Workshop description and schedule:
Morning: The Internet as a Collaborative Tool 9:00 am – 12:00 pm
During the morning session, participants will explore the concept of "virtual classrooms" – Internet-based environments in which language students and teachers can work collaboratively in on-line discussions, chat rooms, and information exchange. Participants will examine Nicenet and Yahoo Groups. Participants will also investigate on-line professional development opportunities, including Tapped In and FLTeach.
12:00 to 1:00 pm: Lunch
Afternoon: Multimedia in Language Learning 1:00 – 3:00 pm
Participants will learn to create digital audio and video files. They will see examples of how these can be integrated into language learning activities. Then they will participate in a live video teleconference via the Internet.

Presenter:

Devin Browne is the Chair of the Technology Committee for PSMLA. He is a French and Russian teacher with Pittsburgh Public Schools and teaches part-time for the University of Pittsburgh. He regularly presents on technology both at conferences and workshops.
