Program Overview

The University Center for International Studies (UCIS), at the University of Pittsburgh invites you to participate in a professional development workshop for world language educators.

The workshop will offer teachers the opportunity to create digital audio, graphics and video files, to edit these materials, and to incorporate them effectively into their teaching. The emphasis will be on freeware and low-cost software applications so that the teachers may continue producing these materials at their schools. Participants are not required to be computer "experts," but they should be familiar with at least one computer software program such as a word processor.

Resources and curriculum materials will be provided. Participants may wish to bring a ZIP cartridge (disk) for their projects. Macintosh computers will be used for the multimedia component, but the materials created may be used on either Macintoshes or PCs. Participants may use either Macintoshes or PCs to create Web pages.
