DESCRIPTION OF THE PROJECT

The project AR Verbos, is a graphic file that will be used at the beginning of the year in a Level II class of Spanish. It will be used to review AR verbs and present tense verb endings that students should have experienced in Level I. The exercise will take place in the lab setting with the material appearing on the individuals' screens. The material can be used to help the student recall verbs after a summer gap in the language learning process. Other review steps can be completed, using a speaking component having the students state the verb and then using a visual/written step, writing the term in a notebook that matches a drawing. The page "Los Verbos de AR" was created with art from a web site, then the individual drawings were added to the word program. It asks the student to write a simple sentence with an ar verb and a given subject.

Once again, students will experience the verbs in a visual setting, then the aural skill could be utilized by having the students say verb forms individually or as a group, or answers could be practiced with a partner. The second part of my graphic file made use of power point. It is entitled "Cuento con AR" and asks students to write a brief story using AR verbs and review vocabulary which would include: seasons, months, weather, and clothing terms. It could be done in the classroom setting or in the language lab. Students could be asked at random to describe a picture orally, and then, the student would be asked to complete a homework assignment in written form, utilizing three selected verbs with a given subject. To create the graphic file, this project used file art from a web page, Microsoft word and power point.

LESSON PLAN FOR AR VERBS AND PRESENT TENSE ENDINGS REVIEW

OBJECTIVES:

The student will be able to:
Identify AR verbs that match the drawings
State present tense endings for AR verbs
Match the correct AR verb ending with a given subject
Create a simple sentence utilizing the reviewed AR verbs and the correct
present tense form of the verb

CLASSROOM ACTIVITIES:

1. AR verbs will be reviewed orally and in writing by the class.
2. AR verb endings for present tense will be reviewed. Individuals in the class will be asked to indicate which ending matches with which subject.
3. On the computer screen, each student will view an exercise that contains drawings that represent actions that would utilize AR verbs that have been reviewed. Additionally, a given subject would be placed next to the drawing and the students will be asked to write out the correct form of the verb in their notebook. The next part of the process would be for the student to review answers with a partner. Finally the class will be asked to state the forms of the verbs.

4. Utilizing the power point presentation "Cuentos con AR", students will orally answer the exercise. They will look at a drawing using one of the AR verbs that has been reviewed, and will be asked to create a short story about the picture and the given subject.

HOMEWORK:

Practice pronouncing each verb
Write out three short descriptions using given verbs and subjects
