Do you need to record high-quality audio? Digitize old research data on cassette tapes? Scan in piles of paper? The RHLMC can help. 

Recording Studio

We have a sound-proof recording studio that can be used by faculty and graduate students for producing high-quality audio recordings. It is equipped with: a sound-proof room, a microphone, an audio tuner and mixer, and Adobe Audition CS6 software. 

The recording studio can be reserved through the "LAB CALENDAR & RESERVATION" gateway linked on the top right (↗). In addition, since the use of recording studio typically requires our staff's assistance with audio mixing, please let the center's manager know in advance. 

Multimedia Development Station

We have a multimedia development station that can be used by faculty and graduate students for various multimedia creation projects. Hardware and software equipment include:

  • A Mac desktop for video/audio editing with the following software: Adobe Production Premium Package CS6, including: After Effects, Bridge, Encore, Extension Manager, Flash, Illustrator, Media Encoder, Media Player, Photoshop, Prelude, Premiere Pro, Speedgrade. Adobe Audition CS6, Adobe Contribute CS5, Handbrake
  • Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 auto-feed scanner
  • A flat-bed scanner
  • Equipment for digitizing video/audio including Elgato Video Capture
  • Multi-CD copier

The multimedia development station can be reserved through the "LAB CALENDAR & RESERVATION" gateway linked on the top right (↗). You will likely need some assistance from our staff, so we recommend sending an email to the manager and let them know of your specific needs.   

Media Digitization Service

We also offer digitization service on various forms of media. We can:

  • convert VHS tapes rip DVD movies and encode into digital video files
  • digitize cassette tapes into digital audio files
  • digitize print-out documents using our high-speed scanner, with optional OCR functionality 

To make a request, please inquire via email. Please note that the RHLMC strictly adheres to all copyright laws when digitizing media. This typically means that copyrighted media cannot be digitized in full unless you have express permission from the publisher.
