AI Judo for the Classroom: Three Simple Steps

Presented by J. D. Wright (University Center for Teaching and Learning)

Description: One of judo's core principles is meeting a force not with resistance but by channeling it to your own advantage. In this short workshop, you’ll learn three strategies for harnessing AI tools instead of banning them, and we’ll share insights, questions, and concerns about this new technology. Adapt to it---or even adopt it---and you'll redirect its momentum toward real learning.

Bio: As a teaching consultant at Pitt's Center for Teaching and Learning, J. D. Wright focuses on generative AI, student engagement, student writing, and the basics of nuts-and-bolts pedagogy. He earned his PhD in English and taught a wide range of courses at Pitt for the Department of English, the Department of Slavic Languages and Literatures, and the College of General Studies.

Location: The Robert Henderson Language Media Center @ G17 Cathedral of Learning
