How to Reserve

Accessories and media are checked out on a walk-in basis, which includes cables, adapter dongles, movies on DVD, and games. Devices such as laptops, tablets, audio recorders, camcorders, and VR headsets can be reserved through our reservation system accessed through the "LAB CALENDAR & RESERVATION" gateway linked on the top right (↗). 

Please note that users must register first in order to use our center's reservation system. If you are a new user, please send an email to LaShanda (polyglot@pitt.edu), including your affiliation (department, language program) and status (faculty, grad student) with a subject line "New user registration request". 

Checkout Equipment Policies

• Duration: Equipment can be checked out for a maximum duration of 3 days at a time, including weekends and holidays. We appreciate you returning them promptly! 
• Long-term loans: We generally do not offer semester-long loans. Faculty can arrange them through Pitt's Center for Teaching Learning instead. We do, however, accommodate longer loans of certain devices, depending on availability and special circumstances. Please contact the center's manager.
• Long-term loans for research: Research experiments and data collection efforts can take many months and often involve multiple machines; our center has a set of laptops specially provisioned for this need. Please contact the center's director to inquire.  
• Minimum lead time: Online reservations must be made at least 24 hours in advance. If you need to borrow something right away, please contact the center to inquire about the availability of the item. We might be able to accommodate you.
